House Update
Now that Meridith has moved in and we’ve started decorating and bringing in furniture, Lydia’s House is turning more and more into a home. We all have been working upstairs, enjoying the dining room table which soon will provide for a community of women and children. Due to a broken heater and water system, Hilary even stayed the night last night, having the honor of being the first of many women to sleep in one of our rooms. Feast of St. Lydia 2014: Remembering the Night
Although it has been two weeks since our Feast of St. Lydia event, we are still buzzing in the glow of the support and generosity displayed that night. We can now say that we have raised approximately $14,000 from that night alone! We could spend a hundred years trying to express our gratitude for such a wonderful community who endlessly demonstrates compassion and belief in our mission, but we doubt we’d ever get close to fully being able to explain what you all mean to us. On Wintry Days and Warm Places
By Hilary, the Intern Those of us living in Cincinnati, or honestly most of the nation right now, will know how incredibly cold it has been this winter. Admittedly, I have become less tolerant of intense winters since I moved away from Michigan and Boston–it seems the milder climate of England, where I spent the last year and three months of my life, has spoiled me. Needless to say, I’ve been rather grumpy the past few months, and Mary Ellen and Meridith can attest to the number of hours I spend bundled up in front of our office radiator
