In 2019 I decided to move back in with my family, specifically my grandparents, to get help with Olivia while I went back to school. In my head this was a great idea, but Lord knows I wasn’t expecting the whirlpool of changes ahead of us. My time with my grandparents ended pretty quickly. Bread for all, and Roses too! This slogan dates back to the 1910’s from Women’s Suffrage Movement activist Helen Todd. This phrase was not only used in reference to Women’s Suffrage, but rather it continued to be used during what is now referred to as the “Bread and Roses Strike.” The Bread and Roses Strike worked towards protesting for fair wages and dignified working conditions, as the working conditions in textile factories were often harsh, dangerous, and for little pay.
